SEND
At Stowting School we foster an environment were every child matters as we passionately believe that each and every child has the right to feel success in their endeavours. We actively welcome and celebrate diversity and the richness it brings to the school community. We are committed to giving the children every opportunity to achieve the highest of standards. We do this by taking account of pupils varied life experiences and needs. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum and have high expectations for all children. We are an inclusive school where the achievements, attitudes and well-being of our children matters so we actively seek to remove barriers that might hinder learning or exclude individual pupils or groups. In this way, we offer equity of opportunity to our children. At Stowting School, we swiftly identify barriers to learning and offer targeted support at all levels. We offer quality first teaching with targeted interventions, where necessary. In this way, we strengthen and enhance learning opportunities for all on a daily basis.
Mrs Rebecca Simmonds is our SENCO, if you have any concerns about your child's progress you should speak to your child’s class teacher to express your concerns. Where there are shared concerns about your child's progress or learning the teacher will raise this with the SENDCO. The school has regular Pupil Progress Meetings to monitor and discuss the progress of all pupils. If there are any further concerns about your child's learning, the class teacher will arrange a joint meeting with parents and the school SENCO where you will have a detailed discussion about any potential Special Educational Needs that your child may have. We are fortunate to have an experienced teaching team who have a vast wealth of knowledge about a range of Special Educational Needs.
If at any point however, you have concerns about your child and how their send is being managed, do not hesitate to conduct the Headteacher to discuss your concerns.

Equality.
As a school, we are committed to ensuring that our school does not “Unlawfully discriminate against pupils because of sex, race, disability, religion or belief and sexual orientation.” According to the Equality Act 2010 a person has a disability if:
(a) He or she has a physical or mental impairment, and
(b) The impairment has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on his or her ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.
The Accessibility Plan is listed as a statutory document of the Department for Education’s guidance on statutory policies for schools. Our plan will be reviewed every 3 years or where operational needs dictate and approved by the Governing Body. The review process can be delegated to a committee of the Governing Body, an individual or the Head. At Stowting Church Of England Primary School the Plan will be monitored by the Headteacher and evaluated by the Governing Body.

Link Therapists:
Our school works to support speech, language and communication with support from our NHS link speech & language therapist Karen Sheppard as well as specialist teachers. Your child may come into contact with Karen within their classroom or around school. The SENCo (Mrs.Simmonds) will have regular meetings with our link therapist to discuss our school’s provision.
If you have any concerns about your child’s speech, language or communication skills, please speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance.
If we have discussed a specific concern with you about your child’s speech, language or communication, or you have raised a concern, we will decide together whether to discuss this with our link therapist. You will be kept informed of any plans to support your child.
The Local Offer
The Children and Families Act 2014 requires the Local Authority and schools to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) aged 0-25.
The Local Authority refer to this as the ‘Local Offer’. The intention of the Local Offer is to improve choice and transparency for families. It will help parents and young people to understand the range of services and provision in the local area and contribute to a more equal partnership in planning for the needs of children with SEND.
