Art and Design
Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. Stowting’s Art and Design curriculum follows Kapow which aims to engage, inspire and challenge children, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. The artwork and artists we study are from around the globe and reflect the diversity of the world we live in, allowing children to draw inspiration and technique from, as well as enjoy the cultured world of art by visiting art galleries and working with artist in school. In addition, the school aims to develop the children’s use and understanding of technical vocabulary associated with this subject. This is so that the children can articulate the skills / techniques that they have applied, the equipment that they have used and an explanation what their artwork represents. As children progress, they should be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. They should also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
